I had a big, long article all written up about the Stewards Rods, their meaning, and their history for this month, but I decided that a better topic might be one about our Steak Fry this year.
Even though there were plenty of people at the event, a recap for those of you who weren't there might be just the thing to entice you to come on out to our NEXT great event! You don't want to miss the festivities your Lodge has planned!
This year, Anaheim Lodge No. 207 put on a Steak Fry to raise funds for the Lodge and help build back the camaraderie and fellowship that our HUGE Lodge is famous for throughout the state of California (remember: whenever the Grand Lodge family comes through Southern California, they always stop by Anaheim Lodge! We've got a great kitchen, a nice venue and a fantastic line of officers this year!).
To put on our Steak Fry, we called on our line of officers to tap the talent of the Lodge to bring you the very BEST in food and entertainment.
Hugo Ramos made the rounds to all the Lodges and made sure that EVERYONE knew we were putting on an event not to be missed.
We picked up a gigantic BBQ grill mounted on a trailer and brought it down to the Lodge. Our new Mountain Man Master Mason Robert Morris carved up some of the BEST prime angus ribeye steaks in Orange County and grilled 'em up hot, juicy and perfect for attendees.
Ray and Sandy Dailey worked hard behind the scenes making sure we had all the fixin's prepped and ready to go. Ray personally coached our Senior Deacon on how to run an event (I believe he said something to the effect of it was "sort of like trying herding a cat," if I remember correctly. I believe The Boy help him with the description by adding "Yeah. If it was somebody else's cat and it had A.D.D." Thank you both.).
Ron and Diane Salda brought down a heaping helpin' of scratch-made chili. Sandy Dailey managed the kitchen and her Anaheim Iron Chefs - including Ron Spangler and Matt Box - and they put together scrumptious salads, a terrific dessert of strawberry cake and ice cream, and a TON of baked potatoes.
Brandon Bell, Cameron Jackson and Casey Byerly were the Brothers responsible for getting the steaks from the grill to the kitchen. We even had two new men who want to join our Lodge - Raphael and Robert - making sure that the drink pitchers were full and all the guests were well taken care of. Brother Douglas Cale was always there making sure everything was going smoothly as well. Andrew Bowen was the cashier.
Guests were seated all around the room, a DJ was brought in, and there was dancing. We had members from neighboring Lodges - including Solomon's Staircase and Orange Grove - and I'm pretty sure I even saw a Master or two (not to mention an Inspector) out on the dance floor cuttin' a rug!
Our Silent Auction, managed by Ray and Sandy Dailey, was such a success and there were so many great and unusual items that we're thinking of having another one! So get out your auction pens and watch the Trestle Board for an announcement about this!
The food was great, everyone had a good time, and we even had beautiful steak knives engraved with our Lodge Logo available as commemorative keepsakes so that our guests could fondly remember the great time they had at the epic, best, biblical and most successful steak fry fundraiser this Lodge has ever had!
BIG THANK YOUs go to: Kevin and Carol Stibich, Ray and Sandy Dailey, Ron and Diane Salda, Hugo Ramos, Brandon Bell, Ron Spangler, Matt Box, Cameron Jackson, Casey Byerly, Douglas Cale, Robert and Raphael and Andrew Bowen. Thank you also to everyone who attended and made this an event to be remembered!
Shawn Bell
Senior Deacon
