Worshipful Read performed the ceremony for Bro. Krikorian with his wife Lucine and longtime friend, Bro. Scott Manoogian, Senior Deacon of Glendale Lodge #368, present. Lucine placed the 50 year pin on her husband's lapel. Following the ceremony, Lucine served coffee and pastries, and we had a wonderful conversation.
Bro. Krikorian was born in Baghdad, Irag on Feb. 14, 1922. His mother was from Turkey and his father from Armenia. His father was an anticommunist fighter and he was killed in action fighting the Russians when Haig was four years old. The family then moved to Lebanon and later to Palestine. Haig then moved to Jerusalem, where he attended the Armenian Theological Seminary. In May, 1948 he moved to Evanston, IL. as a seminary student. While visiting relatives in Los Angeles in August, he met his lovely wife Lucine. They were married on Christmas Day, 1948 and have spent nearly 61 joyous years together.
While working several jobs, Haig studied mechanical engineering. He would eventually work many years in that profession at the Garrett Corp. In 1983, he started working in commercial real estate, and is currently semi - retired. He and Lucine have two sons, one daughter and three grandchildren. His main hobby is writing, and he has written two books on Armenian religion. His father - in - law was a Mason and a soldier who fought against Poncho Villa.
