How To Become A Mason
The decision to become a Freemason is a personal one. To become a Mason under the Grand Lodge of California, you must be a man, at least 18 years of age, of good moral character, and you must believe in a Supreme Being. Men of all faiths can become Masons, as the definition of the Supreme Being is as personal as the decision to join the fraternity.
One of Masonry's many traditions is that we do not solicit members. Men must seek membership on their own initiative. To begin the application process, talk to someone you know who is a Freemason. If you do not know a Mason, find a lodge near your home and contact the Secretary. The Grand Lodge of California has a Lodge Locater that can assist you in locating a local Lodge in your area.
For potential members seeking to join Anaheim Lodge #207, you can reach us through our Contact Us page on this site.
The next step(s) to becoming a Freemason are:
- Contact Our Lodge. Visit us during an event, and meet our members. After visiting the Lodge, ask for a membership information packet.
- Petition For Membership. Fill out the application, and submit it along with the Degree Fees to the Lodge Secretary.
- Investigative Process. After receiving your application, the Lodge will appoint three members to meet with you individually. Together with you they will review your petition and answer any questions you may have about Freemasonry and our Lodge.
- Lodge Report and Voting. Once the members have met with you, they will report their findings back to the Lodge, and your petition will be voted on at the next meeting.
- Notification of Acceptance. The Lodge will notify you of your acceptance as a candidate. At this point, you will receive instructions about partitipation in the three Degree ceremonies. These ceremonies explain Freemasonry in more detail, and you'll have the opportunity to experience our Lodge's traditions and fellowship.Full membership. Once you complete the requirements for all three Degrees, you become a full member ... Welcome to the Fraternity!
